                       On the 27th, four lorries containing merchandise
           coming from Bandar Abbas to Kerman woro hold up at Chah-i-Chagak
           north of Aliabad by 24 armed robbers. Under the order/of the
           bandits tho lorries were driven about 6 miles off the road where
           the contents were transferred to nack animals and taken into the
           mountains*
           September*
                       On the 8th, between Anar and Kerraanshah-an about 20
           armed robbers held up a truck and decamped with 6 bales of carpets
           valued at 25,000 tomans, which Uashallah Qutbi, a Kerman merchant
           wa3 forwarding to Tehran.
                       On the 8th, near Zeinobia about 50 miles from Yezd
           an armed gang attacked 3 trucks, and merchandise valued at about
           60,000 tomans was carried away.
           October.
                       In the first week of the month, Ibrahim °hojai of the
           local Kharbar Department and 3 of hi3 riflemen were ambushed near
           ^alfczar, south of Kerman, by 9 armed robbers. Two riflemen were
           killed and the third escaped.
           November.
                       On about the 10th, 9 armed bandi* s held up a truck
           coming from Bandar Abbas at Tal-i-.Mohammad Khani between Hajiabad
           and Aliabad and carried away several bales of piecegoods, sugar
           and cash. The drivers assistant was shot dead and of 4 gendarmes
           escorting the truck two lost their rifles.
           December.
                       On the 4th, the village of Arbabad about 30 miles from
           Kerman, off the Bar. road, was attacked and looted by about 18 armed
           bandits.
                       During the middle of the month, a caravan consisting
           of about 45 men ana 200 camels proceeding from Khorasan to Shahdad
           north east of Kerman, was attacked by an armed gang. Two members of
           the caravan were killed and 150 camels with their loads were driven
           away by the robbers.
           Local robberies.
                       On the 9th April, 2 armed robbers entered the quarters
           of a clerk of this Consulate in the small hours of the morning.
           They decamped with som9 cash and clothing. The police showed
           commendable energy and within a week 8 arrests were made and 4 of them
           were identified as having comraitidd a series of armed robberies in the
           town fin the last 18 months. They also disclosed the location of
           certain of the robbed articles which were restored to the owners.

                       In the month of June, the local Rug leavers Co. re­
           ported the loss to the Police of a carpet valued at 12,000 rials

                       During the month of December, gold and jew'lry valued
           at about 20,000 tomans were removed from the house of Amanullah
           Khan Ameri by thieves.
           VIII. Communications.
