Baharnah agitation for reform, 1935 87

Translation of letter from Shaikha Abdullatif
bin Saad, Abdullatif bin Mahnwod and Abdullatif
bin Jodr, the three Sunni Qadis, dated 9th
               Shawaal, 1353.

Referring to your letter of 29th last month No.
774/6 in which you stuted that the government has
received a request from people representing a
large number of the inhabitants of Bahrain asking
iu it various things and of the total a request
stating tint the Bahrain Courts should adopt a
code similar to thut U3ed by the Political Agenoy
and that you want from us information as to our
               opinion regarding this suggestion.
Let it not bo hidden from you that there has
been delay in our reply owing to the holidays and

the work of greetings but now inform you about it.
That if the object of the above suggestion is
that the judgments of the courts should follow
one undeviating system aixl that the direction of
justice and fairress and compromise and equality
in judgments between persons, the strong and the
weak, with no difference between them, as it
should bo, and we believe that the government is
pursuing this, then that is a good order and we
agree to it and no sensible person would fail to
agree, but if the intention is otherwise, of
which we do not know the reality or of which we
knew the reality, natuarally the Share would not
agree to it, because we are the Shara and we do
nothing except Share laws and we are bound to it
and we would not agree contrary to the holy Shara.
There are also things here which we should draw
the attention of the government to expecting full
               attention to them.
