                                               With reference to your letter of the 30th ultimo

                                          relative to the right of Hie Majesty's Government to
                                          afford protection to Dahrelnle In Perola, I ain directed

                                          by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to transmit to you here­

                                         with decyphors of three telegrams from His Majesty's

                                          Charge d'Affaires at Tehran dealing with this matter^

                                          and with the kindred question of similar rights claim­

                                          ed and exercised in respect of subjects of the Truclal

                                         Chiefs.

                                               With regard to the protection of Bahreinis, Mr.

                                          Secretary Morley will observe that His Majesty's Consul

                                         General at Bushlre lo strongly of opinion that, until

                                         the Persian Government are obliged by some public act

                                         of compulsion to recede from the position which they

                                         have adopted, cases similar to that at present under

                                                                                  consideration
