gas whenever any dead rat was picked up from them.
Anti-nlaguo inoculation with Professor Baffkine’s Plague Prophylactic
was carriea out. The whole of the detachment and such members of the staff
as were willing to be inoculated including Captain and Mrs. Pray, were inocul
                   ated against the disease.
Fortunately for every one, the period passed off without any recurrence of
the disease. This was the first time since the first appearance of plague in
Bahrain in 1903 that the recurrence of the disease, which was usual every
second year, did not take place.
During the outbreak of small-pox, whiohis more or less endemic, tho whole
of the Government Staff was protected against tho disease by ro-vaccination.

                                                          Political Agent, Bahrain.
