with the instructions/in your telegram no. 818 of the
13th of August, I sent a letter to the Ruler of Bahrain
on the 14th of August, on the lines of the text given
in*my telegram no. 710 of the 11th of August.

2. The letter, which was written in English and
Arubic, ran as follows
• "Greetings and respects.
Her Majesty’s Government have noted with
satisfaction the decisions of Your Highness i
Government to continue its course of gradual
administrative x>rogress and reform. They value
the long standing friendship of Your Highness and
they wish to assure you that they will continue to
give all proper assistance which may be desired by
the Bahrain Government in pursuing this course and
in maintaining stable conditions which will be of
benefit to the whole people of Bahrain.
Please uccex^t, Your Highness, the assurance
of my high consideration."
