NEW HIRES SATISFACTION
ASKING OUR NEW HIRES ABOUT THEIR DECISION TO MAKE UM HEALTH THEIR EMPLOYER OF CHOICE
The New Hire Survey is sent to all RNs within their first 8-10 months of service, requesting feedback on their
onboarding experience, satisfaction with orientation and new unit, and overall fit at University of Michigan
Health. We evaluate the candidate feedback and use the information for process improvement.
This past year the overall satisfaction of choosing University of Michigan Health as their employer improved
over last year. Moreover, the overall satisfaction of their current unit reflected an increase over prior year,
showing an upward trend of being “very satisfied” and “satisfied”. The increases in overall satisfaction of
our new hire RNs could be correlated with the end of the pandemic and the return of normalcy within the
population we serve.
To note, only 5% of our new hires report that they are dissatisfied with their new unit, compared to a record
high 10% last year. Our goal is to make all new hires welcome at UM Health, and FY23 data reflects our
commitment to embracing new nursing colleagues!
