Multifunctional nanoscale molecules can be used to detect
and kill cancer cells. The method used in this application is to deliver
nanoparticles that carry bullets (drugs to kill cancer cells) to target
cells (cancer cells) which are then attacked and killed. In this way,
the nanoparticles will be right on target because on a small scale they
are able to penetrate target cells precisely and effectively.
c. Food and Agriculture Sector
In the field of food and agriculture, nanotechnology has had
an impact on increasing productivity. Research in Russia reported
that the use of iron nanoparticles in fish feed has succeeded in
increasing the growth rate by 30%. Another case is Tata Chemical
(India) which utilizes nanoscale particles in fertilizers to get better
agricultural products in terms of quality and quantity.

Researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas have created
a jellyfish-inspired underwater vehicle that runs on renewable energy
and can be used in marine rescue activities and military surveillance
