In order to enhance the knowledge of the
university students regarding the
pandemic and its challenges, another
creative aspect, the COVID-19 Prevention
Poster Campaign, was brought to light. A
hundred posters were printed and
displayed at selected locations
throughout the University.
The next step was to widen the borders
of the project to the general public
through an Online Awareness
Programme. Short videos were
published, focusing on informing people
about What COVID-19 is, its symptoms
and prevention methods.
Since the University was due to re-open, it was decided to establish hand washing facilities in the
University premises. Accordingly, 30 hand washing stations at strategic places were stationed
throughout the University with the financial support of the Rotary Club of Colombo Reconnections.
“WEAR A MASK” Challenge was another trending aspect of the project done through the Facebook
platform where we were successful in making our friends, family and colleagues more aware of the
importance of wearing a mask.
The next goal of the project was to motivate and uplift the mentality of school students and
university undergraduates who engaged in academics under stressful conditions throughout the
pandemic period. That is how the thought of bringing up a motivational webinar series
“ABHIPRERANA” originated. The event was a phenomenal success with more than 6500 participants
for the first webinar which was target at school students. The second session catered for
undergraduates. In an era that we all realized the gravity and the severity of this global pandemic,
“COVID Free Pera” was indeed a social necessity which made us determined to protect ourselves and
our loved ones and also to minimize the number of the victims of COVID 19.
