Chapter 4
They flew over eastern Manitoba, where Mirabel's
other maternal great grandmother Edith Batho Anderson
was born in 1910. She was a biochemist who taught at
the university. Her son Harold is Mirabel's Grampa.
Northern Ontario had many miles of lakes and forests to
cross. There was nothing to do but to catch the wind and
move across the miles as well as they could. They
camped in forests, as the orca had promised. The best
food was to be found among the blueberry bushes. It
was a heavenly place, with butterflies all around. Their
tongues and faces were quite blue, again, just as the orca
had said. They smeared more blueberries on themselves
and made fearsome scary faces at one another. It was so
much fun that day.
