Chapter 2

The next day they caught a GO train to take them

into Toronto. Mirabel had been there a few times,

including to the Music Garden when she was three.

From the GO train, they could see Lake Ontario, the

Credit River and many houses with their back gardens.

They pulled into Union Station, where all the trains

arrive from east, west and north. They found the

streetcar that would take them to the Music Garden.

This garden by the lake is divided into six parts, each
named for a movement in the G major cello suite by J.S.

Bach, music that is very much loved by Mirabel's parents
and Gramma. It is one that Mirabel is hoping to play

herself on her cello. The garden was designed by Yo Yo

Ma, the world famous cellist, and landscape designer

        Julie Moir Messervy.
