A few years ago, Yo Yo played the Bach Suite at the

opening ceremony. Each section of the garden has a little

plaque with the actual cello music printed on it in Bach's

        own handwriting.

Some of the sections are green hedges whorled like a

bass clef and all have perennial flowers of many types

and colours. One movement, the Sarabande, has a large

stone in the centre of a spiralling path. In the centre of

the stone is a little pool of rainwater that collects there.

This is Gramma's favourite. In another part of the

garden there is a semi-circle of grass steps for seating

during concerts. There is a maypole; children have

twirled around these for centuries on the first day of May

as they do at Mirabel's school.

It would have been lovely to hear Yo Yo Ma play
there. Mirabel's parents promised to let her listen to his

playing. The girls held hands walking through the garden,
smelling the flowers and imagining the music.
