half days. In the morning and evening she would be
home with her parents or with other small children in the
playrooms of their building.
And so, Twinkle went to school with the other red-
haired toddlers. Soon she could read her parents'
thoughts. Her art work was strange and wonderful, done
with colours from the plants and rocks.
At this point in the story, there was an uncomfortable
silence. No one was quite sure why (except the Stars), but
sensed that they should stop there and get some sleep.
Mirabel went to bed, making a list in her mind of
questions to ask Twinkle in the morning:
1. What was it like at the school?
2. How did the children play?
3. What did they do without books or bedtime stories?
4. Can you sing any of the music?
5. Can you show me your art?
and the start of about twenty other questions which she
didn't finish before falling asleep.
