Page 85 - Up Up and Away
P. 85
On the flight to Vancouver, Mirabel told Twinkle all
about her new school: that you have to do more work
than at the first school she attended, that the kids there
were mostly kind and fun. There were big projects to do,
like huge maps of the world, art days, and singing.
Twinkle seemed pleased, although again, just a little smile.
Then she asked a question.
"Mirabel, do the kids at your school get excited and
jump up and down?"
Mirabel looked surprised. "Doesn't every kid?"
"Well, um, do they ever argue and fight and get angry?
Do you?"
"Oh, yeah. All the time. Then we make friends again
and it's okay."
Twinkle was quiet for awhile. Then Mirabel started on
her list of questions about the mystery planet. But
Twinkle's face closed up, and there seemed to be a
shadow over her joy. She pretended to be asleep. Mirabel
decided to stop asking and wait to be told. There seemed
to be mysteries within mysteries about Twinkle's former
life.
