Chapter 4
It was a long day driving back to Kelowna. The big
event to look forward to was the Armstrong Fair, always
a day of fun for Mirabel. This year would be especially
thrilling, exciting and scary, although Mirabel did not
know it yet, as she dozed in the back seat of the Jetski
(aka the Subaru).
They were meeting Liam and his family in Armstrong
around ten in the morning. The first thing to do was to
buy tickets and then see if they were tall enough for the
wildest rides. You needed to reach a certain mark on a
board in order to ride the Flying Falcon, for example. It
was a roller coaster that went way up into the air and
swooped down again, leaving your stomach back at the
top, similar to the way that a falcon sees his prey and
drops from a great height like a lightning bolt. It is wise
to eat your ice cream after this ride - maybe about an
hour after.
