Harley-Davidson trips
In 2010, I set out to visit a large part of Spain's coastline that
I'd never seen before. I organized my trip by combining it
with an invitation to a wedding in the Principality of
Monaco . I also passed through France and Portugal. In all,
143
I covered 7,000 km.
The route was not lacking in interest:
• Brussels - Megève - Monaco
• Marseille - Perpignan - Barcelona
• Valencia - Cartagena - Marbella
• Gibraltar - Cadix - Sevilla
• Evora - Porto – Saint-Jacques de Compostelle
• Santander - Bordeaux - Ile de Ré
• Versailles - Brussels
I've also booked a chauffeur-driven limousine and a French-
speaking guide in Barcelona and Seville.
Comment: booking a hotel
As I was always traveling alone, I used the
technique - learned somewhat late in life - of not booking
a hotel, but traveling with the Michelin guide of the
country and a mobile phone. Around 5.00 pm, I would
stop in a quiet place, pick up the guidebook and phone to
book a room. In the guidebook, I chose the city where
I wanted to stop, always starting with the highest on the
list, in red. In principle, this was the best, but the most
expensive. I asked for a room, a garage for the bike and the
price.
