By law, when you turn 65, you are a pensioner. In reality,

your status goes into effect on the 1st day of the month
following your birthday. So, for me, the official date was
              December 1, 2016.
At first, you think you're going to have to get used to going
from an active life of over 40 years to a life of "farniente".
Well, this transition went smoothly and I can even say with
              a certain degree of satisfaction.
What's fundamentally changed is that, of course, for
someone like me, there's plenty to do. However, unlike the
active period when everything was planned: 9:00 am this,
11:00 am that, 2:00 pm that, you do things when it suits you
best. Whether you do it in the morning or in the afternoon,
with rare exceptions, makes no difference. This small degree
of freedom brings - after 40 years - a real sense of well-being.
And we can go back to the basics: the little afternoon nap:
              what a delight!
I spent two years just getting by, thinking and
occasionally telling myself that it was a pity that the pension
system as it is today was depriving itself of so many skills.
I'm not talking about myself, but in more general terms. I’ve
always that people at the end of their career should spend
