"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if
we do not give up."— Galatians 6:9
As we close the chapter on another academic year
at Nilsen College, I find myself reflecting on the journey
we have navigated together. This year has presented us
with a unique set of challenges, testing our resilience
as a community and our commitment to the values we
hold dear. Yet, in the face of these trials, our resolve
to foster a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment
has remained unshaken.
The portfolio of the Assistant Principal is rarely simple, and this year was certainly no
exception. We faced moments that required difficult conversations, firm decisions, and
steadfast leadership. There were times when the path forward was not immediately clear,
and times when the weight of responsibility felt heavy. However, I am proud to report
that every situation was approached with a commitment to fairness, restorative justice,
and the ultimate well-being of our students.
Our focus this year shifted significantly towards proactive welfare. While maintaining
necessary disciplinary standards, we worked tirelessly to understand the "why" behind
student behaviors. We implemented new support structures and leaned heavily on our
pastoral care team to ensure that discipline was not merely punitive, but educational and
redemptive. We sought to guide our young people back to the right path, teaching them
that mistakes are not endpoints, but opportunities for growth
To the staff, parents, and the wider Nilsen College community, thank you for your trust
and partnership. Navigating the complexities of student welfare is a collective effort, and
your support has been invaluable.
As we look toward the future, let us carry the lessons of this challenging year with us. Let
us continue to build a college where character counts and where every student is valued.
"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and
suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved."
