Changi Beach in Singapore offers sea burial services. In 2016, the National
Environment Agency planned to establish a sea burial site at the Tanah Merah

Ferry Terminal coast, which was touted as the world's most beautiful sea
burial area. However, controversy arose due to its proximity to the National
Service Resort & Country Club golf course across the water. A study revealed
safety concerns related to the beach's slope and tidal conditions, making it
impractical to hold funerals there. As a result, authorities decided to set up

a designated funeral site at Changi Beach instead. Reports suggest that this
means Singaporeans will have to continue renting small boats to participate
in sea burial ceremonies. It also means that the designated sea burial site on

Singaporean land cannot be implemented temporarily.
