Eventually, Harley's 50 state adventure ended up at the
geographical position of 37 degrees north latitude and 109 degrees
west longitude. Here, the boundaries of four states meet and are
marked with a monument signifying the only location where four
states (Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico) intersect at a
single point at Four Corners region on the Colorado Plateau.
Figure 121: Four Corners—Harley enjoyed his fantastic feat of being
in four states at the same time. (More bragging rights!)
Moving through Arizona, their 50 state traveled, they checked out
th
the 230 sq. mile Petrified Forest National Park which encompasses
semi-desert, shrub steppe and highly eroded, colorful badlands in
northeastern Arizona. It is also famous for its petrified wood fossils,
especially fallen trees that lived in the Lae Triassic Period about 225
million years ago.
Right outside Phoenix, Arizona, Harley and his parents stopped off
at The Heart Attack Grill in Chandler which is set up with a medical-
theme gimmick that promotes bad health with delicious, but greasy
burgers. The threesome played on the sand at White Sands, New
Mexico. In Roswell, New Mexico, (near the location of an historical
alien crash site) they bought amazing t-shirts with alien images on
them. They eventually arrived home, totally exhausted.
