THE EXCEPTIONAL HARLEY FETTERMAN

                           Illustration 151: Self-taught accordion.

One of Harley's favorite songs was “House of the Rising Sun.” He
played this song when trying out any new instrument he acquired. He
could play it on piano, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, saw and accordion.
Even though Harley's growing repertoire included many different
instruments, Harley's favorite would always be his guitar as he
continued to establish his skills and focus on developing his own
personal style. To aid in this goal, When Harley was a junior in high
school, Harley started taking guitar lessons from local musician, Van
Wilks. Harley had seen Van perform several times in Austin, at sites
such as Threadgills on Barton Springs Creek Road.
After digging several “electrifying” performances of popular
Texas Blues guitarist, Van Wilks, Harley felt an adventurous kinship
                                                         st
with this guitarist's expressive style. This 21 century Blues master,
home based in Austin, Texas, had reputable impact within the Austin
music experience and even beyond to the world stage. VanWilks.com
provides impressive details about Van's skills in his bio:
