Harley's Noble Passing
Harley now needed careful medical treatment to re-establish his
health following bone marrow transplant at Houston Medical Center.
By the end of March, Harley was eating foods, but he had lost a lot
of weight and was receiving blood products to help with his
st
hemoglobin drop. March 31 , was his first official day of engraftment
but he was experiencing high blood sugar, fever, and was still on IV
nutrition, TPN.
To get out of the hospital, he needed to be free of fever for 24
hours and have an ANC (Absolute Neutrophil Count) of over 500 for
three days. Neutrophils are a type of white blood cell that fights
against infection.
