• Instrument Zoo Beginner: (Ages 9 and up are most successful) **Maybe offered in 2018-2019** The Instrument

Zoo Beginner Class will focus on writing music for a variety of familiar instruments. Although no prior knowledge
of music is required, a desire to learn and be creative is certainly helpful! Using the Bible and the worship of God
our Father through Jesus Christ for inspiration, students will follow a timeline through music history. Along the
way musical masterpieces, fascinating stories, games, visiting musicians, and fun field trips will make our trip to

the Instrument Zoo the first step on a long and lively musical journey! Teacher: Michael Lich Recommended

• Instrument Zoo Intermediate: (Usually ages 12 and up) **Maybe offered in 2018-2019** The Advanced

Instrument Zoo allows students who have either taken a beginning music composition class (or who know how
to read music at an intermediate level) to explore music composition for a variety of instruments. Music inspired
by the Word of God to worship God through His Son Jesus Christ will be the focus. A timeline of music history

(filled with stories and masterpieces of expression), as well as accomplished guest musicians and field trips, will
guide us on our way to creating beautiful compositions that honor the Lord. Teacher: Michael Lich

• Cello 1- This class teaches the fundamentals cello performance through a variety of games, discussions, and

ensemble pieces. Concepts include instrument care, music reading, listening, first position fingering, and good

tone production. Students are required to practice a minimum of three times a week outside of class and

perform with the QUEST Cello Choir, an ensemble of all QUEST cello students, at the Fine Arts Festival in May.

• Cello 2- This class builds on the fundamentals of cello performance, introducing more complex bowing, new

fingering positions, and vibrato. Students will also learn to play with greater emotional depth. Students are
required to practice a minimum of three times a week outside of class and perform with the QUEST Cello Choir,
an ensemble of all QUEST cello students, at the Fine Arts Festival in May. Required Text: Essential Elements for

• Beginning Class Violin (Ages 5-8)- This class is available to students who have just started violin or who have

about 1 year of experience. This is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of violin, including note
reading, rhythm, proper violin technique and love of music. This class is taught by one to Tucson's best violin

teachers. Daily practice is expected and incentives will be provided. Students will be required to perform as a

group in the Fine Arts Festival held in May 2016. Teachers: Aliyah Powe, Kathryn Harpainter Recommended
