AROUND TOWN
Kilgore, Mission, Bourn, Common
win Nevada State Junior Titles
Nicholas Kilgore (Boys 15-18), Riana Mission (Girls 15-18),
Bradley Bourn (Boys 13-14) and Rivers Common (Girls 13-14)
won championships during the 2020 Nevada State Junior
Amateur Legacy Golf Club.
Winning a state title is the goal of any amateur player, and
these four sensational members of the Southern Nevada
Junior Golf Association have now opened the eyes of fellow
players and hopefully college recruiters with the big-time vic-
tory at the state tournament. They also each earned valuable
AJGA performance stars to compete on that tour.
“The finish helps me know I can win,” said Kilgore, a Shadow Nicholas Kilgore
Ridge junior. “I was just trying to play the last round as if it
was just any other round.”
For Mission, college golf is in her future, as uncertain as it
may be. I’ve talked to a few college coaches,” she said. “But
with Covid going on everything’s on hold for now. I definitely
want to play Division 1 golf.”
Bourn has a lot of golf ahead, and his play bodes well for the
future. “I wanted to win but I also wanted to just play good,
solid golf at least one day,” he said. “I played well both days so
it turned out to be a pretty good accomplishment.” Bourn also
added SNJGA player of the year to his 2020 accomplishments.
Common is an up and coming player and also a 2020 SNJGA
player of the year who is playing very well despite the chal-
lenging times. “It’s definitely my best finish,” Common said.
“Since golf came back [from the coronavirus], I don’t know
what happened. I’ve shot in the 70s just about every tourna- Riana Mission
ment. I’ve been doing super good lately.”
