TROON VINEYARD
roon Vineyard celebrates an entirely different
Tachievement, and they could not be more
proud as they announce that both their vineyard
and winery have received Demeter Biodynamic ®
certification. This certification reflects full
commitment to regenerative agriculture and wines
made with a light, minimalist touch in the cellar
to be sure each of our wines naturally reflects the
character of the vineyard that gave them life. All
of their wines from the 2019 vintage on will carry
the Demeter Biodynamic emblem. It has taken
®
the commitment of everyone at Troon Vineyard
over the last few years to achieve this truly major
milestone.
Some milestones are hard to measure, but in this
case, the achievement was very clear and a story
most might not expect. Six months ago, they placed
raw manure into some cow horns. When they dug
them up and out came soil—humus. The produc-
tion of your first BD 500 is always a milestone for a Biodynamic farmer!
Why do you have to bury the manure in cow horns? They honestly don’t know, but no other container has successfully transformed manure into this
important soil inoculate. For whatever reason, the cow horns are the only known container that transforms raw manure to the rich humus that is BD 500.
