A New Festival Comes to Town in January
tart your year off with a new culinary experience, the Brine, Brew & Barrel Fermentation Festival, slated for the
Sweekend of January 24 – 26, at the Inn at the Commons. Join experts and eventgoers on a food and beverage
adventure of celebration and discovery. Enjoy familiar flavors, introduce yourself to new ones. The festival features
vendor exposition, workshops and demonstrations, activities for the whole family, and some stand-alone events.
Friday, January 24, 6-10 p.m., BrewBash, Enjoy beer, cider and kombucha from the best fermenters in the region
beautifully paired with small bites by LARKS Kitchen & Cocktails culinary team led by the Executive Chef, Billy
Buscher. $45 inclusive
Saturday, January 25, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Inn at the Commons, Vendor Exposition. All-day vendor exposition includes
these fermented products: pickles, kraut, kombucha, beer, wine, cider, mead, chocolate, cheese, coffee, sour-
dough, and more. Plus, chef demos, workshops and more. $15 adults, kids 8 and under free

riends of the Animal Shelter offer a way to support our animal friends in need and do our holiday
Fshopping at the same time, under one roof. Join them—the admission is free—for this delightful
event on December 7, noon – 4 p.m. at Phoenix Plaza, 220 N Main St, Phoenix.
Thousands of special handcrafted gift and décor items will be on sale. Families and pets can sit for
portraits with Santa Paws and the Cat-Elves, memorialized in a glossy 5x7 photo. Enjoy a nutritious hot soup lunch, baked yummies, caroling,
face painting. Meet rescued cats, dogs and bunnies waiting for their furr-ever homes. All proceeds help homeless and abandoned animals at the
Jackson County animal shelter and through FOTAS programs like The Street Dog Project and Working Cats.
