AROUND TOWN THE LIONS ARE BACK!
Artist Sandy Cathcart
Local artist Sandy Cathcart, who paints under the name of
SCat, created quite a buzz a few years back when an art col-
lector purchased her entire collection of lions. Recently, the
collector has allowed Sandy to make affordable professional
prints available for sale. She has also created a gift book featur-
ing fourteen of her lions. These, along with some of the new
lions Sandy has created, will be on display at Evangel Book and
Bible in the Medford Mall from January through March.
Each colorful lion depicts the passion of Creator’s heart as seen
through the eyes of an artist who believes Creator is very much
in touch with His creation. Creator is the One who counts the
months until the doe bears her fawn; the one who hunts the
prey for the lioness; the one who knows our frame before we
are even born; the one who calls us each by name.
Working with Native Americans who walk the Jesus Way,
Cathcart depicts the heart of Creator through such paintings
as “The One Who sees”—He sees every pain, every hurt and
he longs to heal. “Love is on the Move”—He is out to get you,
but not to eat you, just to love you! And “Warrior King”—the
one who will break back through the clouds to make every-
thing right. A portion of all Sandy’s earnings go to First Youth
Nations, a Native American ministry.
Join Sandy for a special showing from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday,
March 23. Or pop in any time to view her paintings.
