What a Christian Believes
Universality means salvation for all who put their trust in
Him. It is not universalism, a false teaching that says all
mankind will be saved ultimately, with or without believing.
See John 3 v16, 17,18. 'God so loved the world that He
gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not
send His son into the World to condemn the world, but to
save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is
not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands
condemned already because he has not believed in
God's one and only Son.'
4. Salvation is great because of the blessings it gives and
because it lasts forever.
Salvation not only removes the consequences of sin and
slavery to it, it allows men, who are naturally imperfect, to
have a perfect standing before God our deliverer.
However, once we are saved, we no longer belong to
ourselves, we become the property of our deliverer, Jesus
Christ. 1 Corinthians 6 v19,20. 'Your body is the temple
of the Holy Spirit, you are not your own; you were bought
at a price, therefore honour God with your body.' What it
means to have the Holy Spirit in us will come in more detail
later.
Hebrews 5 v9 'He became the source of eternal salvation
for all who obey Him.'
5. Salvation is great because it is incomparable and is
personified.
True Christianity differs from all religions because they all
require special deeds and good acts to assure salvation.
