One must constantly question the decisions one makes, verifying the source of
inspiration behind those decisions. There are many factors that can influence
your choices. Choices are made by the human side of your consciousness but
this can be inspired by your Spirit. Your Spirit will never seek to control you,
that is, it will not take ‘control’ until asked by your ego to do so. Spirit never
takes control as such, it will only inspire, and the control remains with you.
There are many ‘layers’ to your consciousness, though for this exercise we
will break it into two major compartments, the spiritual consciousness and the
ego consciousness. In the spiritual consciousness your only influence is from
your Spirit, and from God, one and the same. In your ego consciousness there
are many influences, all emanating from the indoctrination you received since
your birth into that world. There are so many influences ‘shouting’ out
instructions as to what you should do, or what you have to do, that it is almost
impossible to hear the subtle whisper of your Spirit. Spirit influence is
generally felt rather than heard or seen, though sometimes can be ‘seen’
through the symbols that are presented in life experiences or in dreams.
Spontaneous responses or decisions are normally from the ego mind, and most
often regretted. Spirit needs for you to make ‘space’ in your mind for it to give
you the guidance you seek. However, once you have become aware of the
correct balance, that is when your ego becomes aware of its sharing this life
with your Spirit, you will hesitate for just a moment to give consideration to
your options, and then you will make reasoned and balanced decisions and
choices. The normal educational facilities of your world do not give you this
opportunity. Your society calls for you to act in one way, and your beliefs
expect you to act in another way. Your experiences, which are contained
within your ego, also call on you to respond to your circumstances in an
egotistical way. Poor you, you are being pulled in every direction. The one
influence that is not pulling is spiritual influence perhaps that is why it is so
often ignored. Of course it being of Spirit it does not pose the fear or threat of
