method of meditation. In the West we have taken a

sacred practice from the East and adapted it to our own

ends. We have done the same with Yoga and Reiki,

(though Reiki is not really a sacred practice but a devised

therapy to simulate a spiritual practice). We have even

used the religion of Hinduism to provide the basis for

what is often referred to as spirituality or Christian

teachings to provide the foundation for our spirituality.

We have lost the understanding that would

enable us to express our spirituality outwardly or
inwardly. We have been disabled spiritually. It was

always the way of the Roman conqueror to outlaw the
culture of the conquered and replace it with that of

Rome. When Rome became Christian through the

manipulation of Constantine in his seeking to become

Emperor, Christianity was used and abused by Rome to

impose a controllable culture on those who were to

become its subjects. We are still struggling with this
