about being an adult woman. With boys they too would

become involved in the activities of the adult males and get to
know the responsibilities of male adulthood.
Unfortunately in Western Society this doesn’t happen.

Confirmation is so obscure in its purpose that the maturing
child has no means of knowing it has grown up to being an

adult. The child remains powerless. Remember it had left its
power entrusted to its parents and the parents have not been
aware of it and didn’t know to give it back. The child has to

then seek its own initiation into adulthood and without the
guidance of a same sex parent will resort to where it perceives

their power to be. They will make uninformed decisions
regarding finding this power. They will form groups of
similarly uninformed young adults and search for power

together—the blind leading the blind. The common areas they
look to would be sex, drugs, rock and role. You will see various
fads such as Punk, Goth and the like. This is the young adult

asking you to acknowledge that they are adult. Other societies
dress up in special outfits for their initiation so why not
Western young adults. Unfortunately they can become victims

of this situation and would need special help and
understanding. This is the time when teenage girls become

pregnant to teenage boys, both are seeking power and
