Page 37 - final working of the ultimate healer
P. 37
There are maladies that key words can be applied to, that
affirmations will help remove the symptoms of, but certainly not all
can be healed in this way. Affirmations recondition fixed attitudes.
This might not be a bad solution if the sufferer wishes to be
reprogrammed, but it will deny the user of this therapy freedom from
the real cause. We can indoctrinate ourselves to the extent we draw on
the inner reserves of strength to uncover illness, but only until the
illness gathers its strength to overcome the conditioning.
Stress is another major contributing factor to disease. The
word ‘dis-ease’, tells us the cause of the condition, not having ease.
Most of us experience stress every day, one way or another.
Each of us has an ability to shed stress, but many no longer recognise
this ability and instead suppress it. We turn to other stress relievers –
cigarette smoking, alcohol, drugs, tranquilisers or some other ways.
We will not alleviate the stress in this fashion. Instead these ‘props’
lower the stress tolerance threshold. Stress produces toxins within the
body systems. Even with relieving stress, the toxins remain, to be
added to at a later date. Consider that it is not smoking which is bad
for your health per se, but due to the lowered stress threshold,
increased stress is the killer. The famous healer Harry Edwards in the
1950s, father of present day Spiritual Healing, always maintained that
Cancer was stress related. Nowadays this tends to be accepted as a
possibility in the majority of cases.
It is not the end of the world to be stressed, but it is advisable
to discover the weak areas that allow stress to build up. One of the
best ways to deal with stress is to avoid it in the first place. Find its
source, its cause. It is often found that stress first afflicted us at an
early age when we were much more vulnerable. Trauma affected us
and stayed within us, providing a key for further stress to accumulate.
Problems occur whereby the pressure of stress effects the
meridians by depositing toxins in a way which exerts pressure on
