olhapur is a well-built district situated on Bank of
Kriver Panchaganga ruled by Chh. Shahu Maharaj.
He was a visionary King, who spent heavily on building

dams. Due to his enormous efforts agriculture production
increased in multiples, as a result Kolhapur district was
earning highest per capita income in whole nation. Social
reforms of this King was great. There is a boarding for all
castes like Hindu, Muslim and Christians functioning as on
today in Kolhapur.
A holy district blessed by Shri. Mahalaxmi and Shri.
Jyotiba. It has Panhalgad, Vishalgad, Pavankhind.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sambhaji Maharaj and
Maharani Tararani have lived in Kolhapur. Kolhapur is
the last district of Maharashtra that is located on the Goa,
Karnataka border. Kolhapur is the city of highest per capita
income. This district treats everyone with respect and love.
Kolhapur is well known for wrestling. It promotes
wrestlers wholeheartedly. In city there are many 'Milk
kattas' where people can get fresh milk to drink. Here, for

wrestlers 'Khasbag maidan' is famous and there are hostels
and boardings for all caste societies.
