FEAR UNMA S KED
everybody as if they’re everybody’s
mother or something like that.”
What I hear Mark saying here is that people
are willing to operate within a flexible morality—a
morality that changes based upon how we feel
in the moment. People are more concerned with
being socially validated for what they believe, than
actually believing in anything at all. If we disagree
with what someone says on social media, it’s now
socially acceptable to say a myriad of hurtful and
false things in order to destroy that person’s character
and reputation publicly. The worst part about all of it?
It’s acceptable to not only operate this way, but if what
you say is hurtful enough, you’ll get “likes” for it.
Because of the world that we live in, constantly
plugged into social media, it is no wonder that the
fear of the coronavirus spread like . . . well, a virus.
People who have done literally zero research on the
topic automatically get to become so-called experts
and share articles that have a headline that they think
proves their point BUT THEY NEVER EVEN READ
IT. To help fight this, I have provided some action
steps that you can take to stop surrounding yourself
with fear and negativity.
