IS THIS PANDEMIC TRULY

“UNPRECEDENTED”?

Each and every single year, Americans face health
threats such as colds, heart disease, cancer, the newest
strain of influenza, and various other conditions
or factors that could potentially be fatal. In fact, as

stated earlier, the common flu killed 80,000 people in
2017-2018 alone.
Although 219 people die per day from the
common flu, the media doesn’t report on each and
every case and death as though it was breaking news.
However, with the coronavirus, the media feels
the need to update you with this “breaking news.”
And because you are stuck at home quarantined
indefinitely, many people feel the need to share these

headlines and breaking news updates, and the “Doom
Loop” cycle of the media writing alarming headlines
that are then shared by social media users continues
