Furniture donations that Made a Difference

MIL was pleased to find a new home at the Monument Academy for numerous gently
used furniture items. Monument Academy is an alternative school located in Washington,
DC that houses kids that are homeless, living in poverty, and/or subject to other less than
fortunate situations. Along with providing an education that is sensitive to their special
needs, Monument also provides boarding, meals, and additional social services to help these
children in crisis cope with their challenging circumstance.
MIL contributed a range of office furniture and equipment to the Academy excessed from
our old offices in Rosslyn, VA. The list of donated items included 14 desks and over 50 desk
chairs, a conference table, file cabinet and whiteboard, tech equipment and appliances (a color
printer, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, water dispenser), and 20 monitors. Along with
giving new purpose to these furnishings, which is good for the planet, MIL’s donations made
a substantial difference to the day-to-day workings of the Academy for its students, teachers,
and other staff—and for that we are grateful.
MIL also made similar contributions to the Girls Global Academy, also in DC, and is
currently looking for a new home for 21 additional desks.

         A round of applause

It was a banner quarter for many of MIL’s customer-facing staff. Several deserving MIL staffers received accolades and
commendations from their clients for work done especially well and sometimes under challenging circumstances. Please join us in
recognizing the outstanding performance of these staff members that inspired their customers to pen (or type) words of thanks and
         praise. Well done, all!
