Farewell to the chief

Ed Greer, MIL’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Defense Business Unit, said a final goodbye to his
colleagues and friends recently following years of effective service and leadership to the company. On Ed’s
resignation, MIL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Butch Long responded, “It has been my pleasure to work
with Ed over these many years and I want to express my sincerest gratitude for his efforts growing and
expanding MIL’s service offerings and customer base.” He added that “Ed’s departure from MIL will allow
him time to relax and travel with family over the next few months. This will be a well-deserved sojourn
as Ed’s career has previously taken him from his positions as Executive Director of NAWCAD and, more
recently, as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Developmental Test and Evaluation.”
Ed’s October 1st departure followed a period of transition for the Business Unit, which saw the temporary
transfer of COO responsibilities to the CEO’s office. Butch continues to serve as acting COO for the DoD
                               Business Unit.
In addition to overseeing normal DoD Business Unit activities, Butch is also currently chairing a newly restructured DoD Business Unit
Development Team supported by Tom Clark, Larry Hollingsworth, and Adam Ptack as co-chairs. The purpose of the DoD Business
Unit Development Team is to further leverage collaboration and cross marketing across the DoD Business Unit Sectors while providing
more operational authority and autonomy to the sector leaders. This approach is designed to further capitalize on sector strengths and
experience leading to enhanced growth opportunities in the near and mid-term.
