Black Minds Matter
On August 20th, MIL VP John Roland served as a guest speaker
for this year’s Kamp Kappa program, delivering a positive and
motivational speech on the topic “Black Minds Matter.” Kamp
Kappa is a summer enrichment program sponsored by the
Alexandria-Fairfax Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund to
provide outdoor and educational experiences for up to 50 young
men between the ages of 10-16 years. Campers are selected from
both inner-city and suburban community environments. MIL
was also pleased to, once again, serve as a local business sponsor for the Kamp Kappa
week-long event through a $1,000 corporate donation.

Paul Marshall, MIL VP Receives AGA President’s Award
MIL is pleased to announce MIL VP Paul Marshall has been
awarded the Association of Government Accountant’s (AGA)
President’s Award. Each year, AGA recognizes members
who have excelled in their dedication and commitment to
the organization. This year, Paul was honored with the AGA
President’s Award for creating and producing the innovative
“Accountability Talks” podcast. National AGA President
Ernest Almonte recognized Paul during the virtual AGA
Professional Development Training (PDT) conference. Mr.
Almonte praised him for his commitment to excellence and
proactive approach to the future of our profession – the theme for AGA’s 2019–2020 year.
Paul is the host of two successful podcasts, AGA’s “Accountability Talks” and the
Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management’s “Risk Chats.” “Accountability
Talks” focusses on the government accountability community. It provides insights from
government thought leaders and encourages listeners to take part in the government
financial management community.
Asked to comment on the recognition, Paul responded “I am beyond honored to have
received the President’s Award from AGA this year. Sharing and connecting with other
federal professionals so that we can move the industry forward in innovative ways
through new technology and by sharing best practices amongst all levels of government
accounting is both rewarding and exciting. I’m always learning through research, writing,
and interviewing guests on ‘Accountability Talks.’ It has truly been a rewarding space. I’m
proud to share this medium with the AGA community and beyond.”
Most recently, Paul hosted a session at the AGA PDT relevant to his work in Robotic
Process Automation (RPA), “The Next Step — Integrate RPA and AI.” As moderator, he
helped to guide the conversation on RPA and artificial intelligence.
Please join us in congratulating Paul on this important professional achievement.
