1. List the State, Federal and local programs that are consolidated/coordinated in
the schoolwide program and describe how all programs and resources are coordinated
and integrated toward the achievement of the schoolwide goals.
1-State of Alabama: Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI), provides experiences (hands-
on interaction) with multi-sensory literacy coaching for teachers on instruction,
routines, and procedures. The classroom teacher is responsible for implementing
the interventions modeled and taught. Students may be pulled out for services
provided by the ARI reading coach. 2- Federal: Special Education- Services are
provided bi-weekly by Special Education Teacher who work with students, parents,
and teachers to adapt classroom materials and activities based on a student’s
particular needs and abilities developed in Individual Education Plan, Gifted and
Talented Exceptional Plan, Speech and Special Services, and 504 Plans. 3-Local
Programs based on district initiatives
2. How does the school coordinate and integrate the following Federal, State and
local services in a manner applicable to the grade level to support achievement of the
schoolwide goals: violence prevention programs, nutrition programs, housing programs,
Head Start, adult education, career and technical education programs, and schools
implementing comprehensive support and improvement activities or targeted support
and improvement activities under section 1111(d).
The teachers and staff proactively plan with the principal, counselor, and curriculum
team to plan varied approaches to what students need to learn and how they will
learn it.-Teachers and coaches design lessons based on students' learning styles.-
Teachers and coaches continually assess and adjust lesson content to meet
students' needs.-Teachers and coaches group students by shared interest, topic, or
ability for assignments.-Teachers assess students' learning using formative
assessment, district benchmarks, iReady Assessments, Renaissance Star Literacy
and Reading, KEA, and/or other state assessments. Teachers manage the classroom
to create a safe and supportive environment. -Nutrition Specialists coordinate
meals based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines and under the USDA Community
Eligibility Provision (CEP), all students enrolled in Birmingham City Schools are
eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge. -Counselor meets
weekly with all classes to provide mentoring and guidance on topics of violence
prevention, safety and well-being, and character building. -ReThinkEd and builtin
Leadership Academy time, provide Social Emotional Learning support as an
