Breaking the Curse of Poverty  David K. Owusu

and honey”; 10 and now, behold, I have brought the first fruits of
the land which you, O Lord, have given me.’

“Then you shall set it before the Lord your God, and worship before
                  the Lord your God.

From the scriptures above, the Word of God says “When you come
into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall
bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest”

In this Scripture, the word ‘Land’ is a typology that represents any
new business venture, job or opportunity that the Lord gives you,
while the word ‘Harvest is a typology that depicts the first income
that you receive from the new business venture, job or opportunity,
which is what God terms as the ‘first fruits’ and which should be
               presented to the priest.

               The Significance of First Fruits–

The first fruits offering is one that’s a portion, a percentage of a
fraction or even a whole part of increase that has come into your
life. It’s a sign of honour in recognition of the Lord as the one who
gives the increase in our lives. This is important because it’s a sign
that even in our worldly progress and promotion we demonstrate
our faith in acknowledging God as the source of our promotion.

The attitude behind this is one of honour, and God promised in the
days of Samuel the prophet of old that He would honour those who
honour Him. Hence a principle here that honour begets honour.
