A FINE AND RARE SMALL LONGQUAN

CELADON TRIPOD CENSER

SOUTHERN SONG DYANSTY (1127-1279)

The censer has deep rounded sides rising to a straight, lipped rim,
and stands on three slender cylindrical legs. The mouth rim is
applied with two upright lug handles. It is covered overall in a pale
celadon glaze thinning to white to the extremities and stopping
around a circle on the base, exposing the body material.

This censer is a fine example of early Southern Song Longquan ware.
Compare a very similar example in the Quzhou Museum but with
thicker and shorter legs, illustrated in The Research of Porcelain of
Longquan Kiln, Beijing, 2013, p. 181, pl. 11 (fig. 1).

此爐是南宋早期龍泉窯器的精品,造型秀麗可愛,三足錐形空心,製造
工藝比後期常見的鬲式爐難度要高,傳世品也更為少見。參見衢州博物
館藏一件與本爐相似的鼎式爐,但足較為粗短,著錄於《龍泉窯瓷器研
究》,北京,2013年,頁181,圖11(圖一)。
