TWO GLASS ‘CHILONG’ SNUFF BOTTLES
1780-1850
The first of flattened, rounded rectangular form, made of transparent
green glass carved around the sides with a writhing chilong, all
supported on an oval foot ring; the second of flattened pear shape,
the cloudy translucent body overlaid with a transparent green layer
carved to form the oval foot ring and two chilong grasping rings in their
mouths to form ‘handles’ on the shoulders.

A GREEN OVERLAY SNOWFLAKE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
1750-1850
Of flattened globular form rising to a cylindrical neck, the green layer
carved to form three pea pods growing from a leafy vine on each side,
flanked by lion mask and mock ring handles on the shoulders, and the
oval foot ring.
