TWO BRONZE VASES
SONG / YUAN DYNASTY
comprising: a vase cast with a compressed globular body rising to an elongated straight
neck and a garlic-bulb shaped mouth, the neck bordered with a raised band further centred
with a raised fillet, the bronze patinated to a warm chocolate-brown tone mottled with
traces of gilding; and a vase of square section, the baluster body rising from a slightly
splayed foot to a waisted neck and an everted mouthrim of corresponding form, the neck
flanked by a pair of mythical beast mask loop handles, the surface of a coppery-brown tone
mottled with green encrustation along the mouthrim
