A BRONZE LIBATION CUP, JUE
SONG TO MING DYNASTY

of archaistic jue form, the ā€˜Uā€™-shaped body supported on three splayed triangular blade
feet, cast on one side with a loop handle in the form of a mythical beast's head, a spout and
rounded tail forming the rim, cast with a recessed panel enclosing a sixteen-character
inscription below the spout, all surmounted by a pair of vertical posts terminating with
hemispherical tips, the smooth bronze patina of a dark brown colour
