A BRONZE SUTRA CONTAINER AND COVER
SOUTH CHINA / SOUTH-EAST ASIA, SONG TO MING DYNASTY

of rectangular form, the box supported on four stylised scroll feet, all four sides pierced
and reticulated with floral and foliate scrolls, the cover comprising four panels and a flat
rectangular top, the sides similarly reticulated with meandering floral and foliate scrolls,
the corners cast with a mythical beast with an upward-turning nose, the patina with
malachite-green encrustation
