A GILT-IRON CARRYING BOX AND COVER
TIBET, 16TH / 17TH CENTURY

of circular form, with a deep rounded body rising from a short foot, the exterior set with a
pair of angular handles and damascened with four roundels enclosing a stylised shou
character alternating with foliate motifs, the base similarly centred with a stylised shou
character surrounded by a floral scroll, the top cast with two hinges and a cover, the cover
detailed with a central medallion enclosing a stylised shou character and encircled with a
leafy floral scroll
