Ulrich Hausmann's comparison with Song and Yuan dynasty bronzes suggests that the current vessel, with its
pronounced construction, finely cast mark, overall design and rich patina is of a later date. Of all the many Xuande
reign-marked bronze vases, this is one where there is a realistic chance that it is indeed of the period as the mark
suggests.
