A DAMASCENED BRONZE TEA CADDY AND COVER
LATE MING DYNASTY
of rectangular form, cast with a tapered body set with a curved neck, all four sides
decorated with a foliate panel against a leiwen ground, two panels enclosing a qilin soaring
above lingzhi blooms, the other two detailed with various birds perched on peony trees
next to peacocks, the circular cover similarly centred with a foliate panel enclosing a hare,
crane and other birds amidst plants of pine, bamboo and lingzhi
10.5 cm., 4 1/8 in.
