470 A wood netsuke of a ripe eggplant. Around 1900
The skin burst open to reveal the fruit, with a fly and
a bug sitting on one of the leaves, inlaid in bone and
mother-of-pearl.

19th century
Carved with a Chinese sage under a blossoming
prunus tree to one part, and a sage under a tall pine
tree to the other. Black lacquer to the inside and a
copper eylet.
