A SMALL LACQUER-INFILLED
SILVER LOBED DISH
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The shallow dish of mallow-flower form is
well incised and infilled with black lacquer
on the interior to depict ladies in boats
picking lotus by a river bank with thatched
pavilions and a pagoda with onlookers,
all set in a mountainous landscape. The
reverse with a four-character mark, Fang
Nianquan zao, ‘made by Fang Nianquan.’

A SILVER ‘DRAGON’ BOWL
LATE QING DYNASTY
The bowl is heavily cast and finely
moulded on the exterior to depict three
dragons chasing a flaming pearl, the centre
of the interior with a Shou medallion
surrounded by five bats, wufu. A character
xuan is cast within a circle on the base.
