A SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF A LUOHAN AND A
SOAPSTONE STAND

Kangxi period (1662-1722)

Carved as a luohan with knees casually crossed, his arms resting
on the raised right knee, his face with a serene expression in
contemplation with eyes downcast. The elliptical stand is of a
‘chicken blood’ colour, incised with shaped cartouches on four
sides.
